Silver Jubilee Celebration (1979 – 2004) & 150th Birth Anniversary of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi A Report It was an eight-day long celebration, starting from November 26, 2004 to December 03, 2004. While remembering twenty-five years service of the hospital to the people of Arunachal Pradesh, it was also decided to include a series of spiritual oriented programs for the benefit of the participants of this celebration. In all twenty five monks all ex-monastic workers took part in the celebrations. November 26
The gala festivity started with foundation stone laying program by His Holiness Srimat Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj. In a solemn function at the site selected for the new OPD, a long felt need of the hospital, he laid the foundation stone amidst Vedic chanting.
November 26 , 27 & 29
Satsang was held for the next two days. These Satsangs included Bhajans, meditations sessions, spiritual discourses and reading from religious books in English, Hindi and Bengali languages by the visiting swamis who had served in the hospital in the past. Theses congregations were well attended by devotees & admirers of the Ramakrishna Mission, staff of the hospital and the public.
November 28
A daylong Bhakta Sammelan was conducted at Vivekananda Hall. The hall over flowed with devotees from various parts of Arunachal Pradesh, and from Biswanath Chariali, Bihpuria, Lakhimpur, Harmoti in Assam. In all 520 devotees attended the Sammelan.
November 30
A public meeting was arranged to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi at the Vivekananda Hall under the presidentship Srimat Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj.
December 01
A nine and a half feet high bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda(first in the state of A.P) installed on an octagonal pedestal in front of the hospital was unveiled by Sri Gegong Apang, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh amidst much fanfare. A public meeting on Silver Jubilee celebrations of the hospital was held at the Vivekananda Hall following its unveiling under the presidentship of Srimat Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Sri Gegong Apang was the chief Guest and Hon’ble Minister of Health and family Welfare etc, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh was the guest of honour. In the meeting staffs of the hospital serving for more than 20 years were felicitated with a shawl and certificate by Srimat Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj. Sri C C Singpho, Honourable Minister of Health and family Welfare etc, Government of Arunachal Pradesh released a Souvenir printed on the occasion of the twin celebrations.
Apart from the above programs Mantra Diksha (Initiation) was held on November 25, 27, 29, December 02, 04 2004, in which a good number of tribal people(45) also received initiation from Srimat Swami Atmasthanandaji Maharaj. A total of 502 people were initiated. Cultural programs by local artists and staff of hospital and School of Nursing were held on December 29, 30 and December 03 2004. An invited vocal artist from Alipurduar, Ms. Debatri Kundu gave a vocal performance on December 02, 2004.
A photo exhibition on the activities of Ramakrishna Mission in Arunachal Pradesh and on Mother’s life and teachings (produced by RIMSE) was organized during the entire period of the celebrations . There was also a bookstall set up by Vivekananda Study Circle Naharlagun. |
